Delete your account and data
Spoor is operated by Mindful Runner (Pty) Ltd. You can delete your account and the personal data attached to it at any time, without contacting anyone. This page explains how, exactly what is removed, and the few things we are required to keep.
Option 1 — delete it yourself, in the app
Open Spoor and go to You → Account → Delete account. You will be asked to confirm, because this cannot be undone. Deletion begins immediately and completes within 30 days.
Option 2 — ask us to delete it
Email [email protected] from the address on your Spoor account, with the subject "Delete my Spoor account". We will confirm the request, action it, and email you when it is done — within 30 days, and usually much sooner. You do not need an account or a login to send that email, and there is no charge.
What gets deleted
- Your account and sign-in credentials
- Your profile: display name, player name, avatar, contact details
- Your location history — every position sample from every run you have recorded
- Your run history: sessions, checkpoint completions, scores, ghosts and war stories
- Your crew memberships and any territory your account holds
- Event registrations, leaderboard entries and published race results
- Any photos or media you uploaded as checkpoint evidence
What we keep, and why
One narrow exception, standard and legally grounded:
- Financial records. Where you paid an entry fee, South African tax law requires us to retain the transaction record (amount, date, invoice number) for five years. Your name and email address are removed from that record when you delete your account, so what remains cannot identify you.
Everything else goes. We do not keep a shadow copy, and we do not sell or transfer your data to anyone for their own purposes.
Timing
Your account stops working immediately. Data is erased from live systems within 30 days, and purged from encrypted infrastructure backups within a further 30 days as those backups age out on their normal cycle.
Children and guardians
Where an entrant is under 18, the parent or guardian who registered them may request deletion on their behalf using the same email route, and may withdraw publication consent at any time without deleting the account. Withdrawing consent removes the child's name from public results and live tracking; it does not remove them from the event.
