Not a tier, not an add-on, and not something an organiser has to remember to switch on. If you are on a Spoor course, you have all of it — whether the event cost a thousand rand or nothing.
Why it is free
Three reasons, in the order they would bite
This is the strongest single thing we can say about ourselves, and it costs almost nothing to give away.
The sentence you cannot answer
After an incident, “the safety feature was in the paid tier” is unanswerable — to an insurer, to a family, to a journalist. No pricing rationale survives it.
Free events need it most
The person who most needs escape points is the volunteer running their first thing. Charging for it inverts the need.
It costs us nothing
An escape point is a checkpoint. An emergency is a row in a table. There is no marginal cost to giving every event the lot.
When it turns
The ways out are on the map
Weather on high ground changes faster than a field can be recalled. So the routes off are placed when the course is built, and armed the moment a director needs them.
An armed escape point pulses red and grows. In an emergency the thing you must find cannot look like the thing you have been ignoring all run.
ISO 7010 makes escape routes green and danger red, everywhere in the world. The alarm is red; the destination is green. We did not invent that and we are not going to.
Broadcast reaches the whole field or one division, and the director sees who has actually acknowledged.
On the run
Eyes up, not down
A game that makes people stare at a phone while moving through traffic is a badly designed game.
It talks, you look up
Distance to the next checkpoint, what is behind you, what is about to close. Spoken, so you are watching the ground and not a screen.
Nothing to point at anything
There is no augmented-reality capture while you are moving. If something needs looking at, it waits until you stop.
Some ground is off the board
Roads, private land, anywhere a creator or a director marks out. The game will not route you into it and will not score you for entering it.
